Innovative Cable Handling System for Inter-Array Cable-Lay
Evotec has developed a complete cable handling system designed for inter-array cable lay operations for bottom-fixed offshore wind turbines reaching depths of 100m. The system represents advancement in the industry, combining safety, efficiency, and automation to make the inter-array cable-lay process smoother and more streamlined.
The cable handling system is composed of several integrated units, all of which are coordinated and operated through Evotec’s advanced automation system. This automation plays a crucial role in ensuring that all equipment works seamlessly together during the cable-lay process, making the operation safer and more reliable for both the crew and the cable.
Deck Operations
With our new equipment and solutions, we’re enhancing safety and efficiency on deck while reducing the need for manual handling when deploying the cable. This includes simplifying the assembly and handling of the CPS (Cable Protection System), which helps to minimize risks for the crew and creates a more efficient workflow.
Mobilization and Port Operations
The system is designed to load two cables independently into each carousel simultaneously, while the vessel is moored at the quayside, regardless of whether it’s on the port or starboard side. The vessel can also continue normal port operations, such as loading CPS baskets, while loading cable, significantly reducing the time spent in port.
Evotec has worked closely with a team of highly experienced professionals from the subseacable-lay industry, including experts with both engineering and operational backgrounds. This collaboration has been vital in developing and validating our solutions, ensuring they are both practical and effective in real-world applications.
We are making the seven seas your playground, and we would love to meet up to discuss this solution more thoroughly with you.
